Born and raised in Saint Joseph, Matt carries with him the Midwestern values instilled over generations of farmers and trade workers in his family. After graduating from Missouri Western, he spent several years broadening his perspective and gaining professional experience across the American South, the City of Chicago, and both the East and West Coasts.

Matt grounds his legal practice in honesty, integrity, and a genuine dedication to helping others. He believes effective advocacy is rooted not only in strong legal analysis, but in the character and principles an attorney brings to every client interaction and every case.

Upon returning to Saint Joseph, Matt continued his service oriented career through roles with Legal Aid of Western Missouri and the Missouri Department of Mental Health, where he worked to advance the public interest and support vulnerable members of the community. In 2025, Matt transitioned into private practice with Morton, Reed, Counts, Briggs & Robb, where he is able to expand his legal practice alongside like minded attorneys who share his core values.

Outside of his professional work, Matt enjoys caring for a small menagerie of animals on his homestead just outside of town, spending time with his wife and two sons, and coaching youth soccer.
